Dive Team Drill with JTFD2.....Learn what you guys may have to help with during something like this.

RIT Drill

Actual Scenario - Have engines roll in hot (and hit hydrant). Have truck roll in and do Truck work. Officers command scene as if real fire.

LET ME ASK YOU HOW CAN U JUST CALL YOUR SELF A RIT TEAM WITH OUT TRAINING MORE THAN ONE TIME. TELL U WHAT AS A MEMBER OF A RIT TEAM THERE ARE A TON OF SENARIOS YOU HAVE TO TRAIN FOR. AND I REALLY DONT BELIEVE THAT AS A RIT TEAM ON THE JOB TRAINING ISNT A GOOD TIME TO LEARN A TON ABOUT RAPID INTERVENTION. ONCE YOU HAVE TRAINED WITH OTHER RIT TEAMS. FOR ATLEAST A YEAR OR 2 THEN U SHOULD HAVE A GOOD HANDLE. BUT REMEMBER U ARE GOING INTO THE WORST ENVIRONMENT KNOWN TO FIREFIGHTING . SO JUST REMEMBER THAT GOOD LUCK WITH THAT THOUGH. ALSO REMEMBER U SHOULD HAVE A BIG MUTUAL AID DRILL WITH ANY RIT TEAMS THAT U CAN ON THE BASICS OF WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT EACH OTHER HAS SO U CAN INTER CHANGE AND GET IDEAS FOR WHAT UR TEAM NEEDS ARE.

We sent people for the 1st RIT team class once the team is together there will be training monthly for the team hands on , seminars , etc training will never stop and you only get better by how you train

Steve,
Congratulations on the Chief position!

I've heard of other departments who built their own Mask Confidence Course. Not just blacking out their masks and smoking up a room, but they built individual stations as part of a full "course" that were designed to simulate real life situations.

These stations could have an attic simulator designed to simulate the rafters we might find in many homes and businesses, an entanglement hazard simulator containing various wires, cables, and other things that can quickly get caught in our SCBA and clothing, causing a dangerous situation. (With this simulator, firefighters are able to learn techniques that will allow them to free themselves and others from these hazards) and a low-profile simulator. In this section, firefighters have to navigate very confined areas and tight corners. There are parts of the simulator that will require a firefighter to remove their SCBA in order to get through. it. This gives firefighters an opportunity to practice maneuvering while holding onto their backpack and still keeping the face piece in place. By becoming more comfortable with our equipment, we are better prepared to provide life safety services.

I found some photos of these stations if you would like to see them? emtfd2@yahoo.com

Just food for thought.

Yea....just have a fire and make sure to ask for a full assignment or at least an engine and truck. And always make sure our Truck (711) comes to the scene.

yeah guess your truck 711 should come to scene instead of backing up into our firehouse !
